Here is a letter from Nissan of McKinney:

To  Chamber Members and Parents of All MISD Students:

High School Commencement will soon be upon us.  Congratulations to all families with graduating seniors!  It is an accomplishment all look forward too and we wish to recognize you for your commitment to your students.

It has become increasingly difficult to raise good kids and keep them out of harms way in our society today. McKinney’s Project Graduation was started in our community six years ago, to help do just that.  Keep our kids safe.  Nissan of McKinney is dedicated to helping the McKinney Community raise its children.  It is for that reason, we partner with the McKinney Education Foundation and with McKinney’s Project Graduation.  Education and safety are priorities with our company.

We feel so strongly about this that we have donated a Nissan as the Grand Prize for the third year in a row.

Graduation, as a rite of passage, is unequaled in the eyes of your teenager.  It is a night to be proud, to celebrate achievements, and to look forward to the future.  Many teens mistakenly think the best way to celebrate this night is to drink alcohol. In the past this practice has turned what should have been a night of celebration into morning nightmares, embarrassing memories, and trouble with parents, friends and the police.  Some were not this lucky! There are far too many graduates and innocent victims, killed in alcohol related crashes during the graduation season.

We want to encourage you to make sure your company or family supports Project Graduation in any way you can.  We feel it is one of the most important events in McKinney every year.  As one of the major sponsors, Nissan of McKinney, along with the Project Graduation Team has the sole purpose of keeping our graduates safe during this evening of celebration.

We feel confident that the efforts of the Project Graduation Team and Nissan of McKinney will keep your graduate from harms way and are dedicated to the success of this event.
